Robert Frecer obtained both his bachelor's and master's degrees at the Institute of Classical Archaeology at Charles University in Prague. His research areas include Roman lamps and material studies of the ancient Roman economy. His book, Gerulata: The Lamps. Roman Lamps in a Provincial Context, funded by grant no. 280213 of the Charles University Grant Agency, is awaiting publication in April 2015. Robert has been involved in a number of research projects, including excavations at Gerulata (Bratislava-Rusovce, Slovakia), Eryx (Erice, Sicily), Bratislava Castle (Slovakia), and he is currently a member of the Institute's team excavating Stroyno (Bulgaria) under Petra Tušlová.
